Biography

The 15th of February is the day God gave M. Ghani Khorsand and Masooma Rezaie their first child and only son to them. They called their son Parwiz. From the moment Parwiz could walk he was a lively boy. At a very young age he developed a great passion for music. He sang along with all kinds of music he heard. From kindergarten till primary school (Mahmoode Hotaki) and high school (Habibia) he performed for his friends and schoolmates. From his 13th birthday he became more serious about music. As a result his personality became more restful.

He quickly learned to play the tabla and the harmonium and he started to combine his singing with these instruments. When he was 15 years old he went abroad to study Economics, supported by a scholarship. In this periode he also performed and took part of great festivals on behalf of Afghanistan.

After his study he went back to Afghanistan. In that time the situation became worse every day. Eventually he and his family had to escape the country. After a time of living in Pakistan he and his family succeeded to travel to Western Europe. Since 1996 Parwiz lives in the Netherlands. After a few years he felt more comfortable in this country, especially when he went to work at a insurance company in 2000. In the last years he successfully ended some courses. His private life also gives him a lot of happiness. In December 2003 he married his great love in the Afghan tradition. Parwiz is very happy with his wife. She is a big fan of him and supports him in his musical career.

During his stay in different countries his eagerness to learn made that he got to know about music from different sources and from different teachers.

Because of his excellent skills Parwiz is able to sing rhythmic, pop, folkmusic as well as classic and romantic ghazals. By singing ghazals he came to learn about poetry and literature. Parwiz is a big fan of  great Persian poets especially of Moulana Jalal-u-din Balkhi and Bedel Dehlawi. Parwiz has alot of respect for other Afghani musicians. Instead of copying them he chooses to go his own way and create new music.

After many successful performances on different ghazal, folk and popstages Parwiz became famous among Afghani people in the Netherlands. His first album “Sanam” was released in the year 2000. Many musicians gave their approval to this album which gives hem a good reputation. For the first time hiss fans understood that Parwiz also is a good composer, songwriter and producer.
A few years later his second album “Mubarak baad” was released, a studio-live recording with rhythmic dance tracks. Parwiz made his singing experience complete with recording experience. On his 3rd  album “Khanjare almas” we will hear the result of this.

With much enthusiasm Parwiz presents his 3rd album. Together with a team of international musicians he worked hard on this album of high quality. Parwiz is very delighted of the result. Because Parwiz is a perfectionist, he always will be critical to his own product and aims at perfection and improvement.

Parwiz is a creative  artist who wants to create new things and doesn’t want to repeat something he or anyone else did before. This is the reason why Parwiz always keeps on searching for new compositions. Every artist should create his own song, this is the only way the Afghani music will survive and can develop, says Parwiz. This is why he calls up everyone to give new impulse to music by being creative, innovative and constructive.

Parwiz says he is a servant of Afghani art en culture who wants to mean a lot to Afghani music in the future. He wants to reach this with all the love and warmth from his fans.
